Coming out of the gates strongly, the Monbulk lads scored inside the first 3 minutes. A well worked passing phase finished off by, what could only be described as a “filthy” finish by Rayden Jones. Taking the ascendancy, the boys then put another 3 goals in to go into the half time interval up 4-0.
After a few changes in both personnel and formation, the boys came out for the second half and picked up where they left off, scoring again on the hour mark. Yarra Valley managed to get a goal back through former Monbulk player Jason Wishart, as a ball was played over the defence as they were pressing up the park, found himself 1v1 with the keeper and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
In the final knocking of the match, we managed to score again through some well worked passing and a lovely finish to run out convincing 6-1 winners on the night.
Liam Zwagerman (2), Rayden Jones (2), Michael Depasquale (1), Aden Horton (1)
The club would also like to announce, that we, as a club, are donating the scoreboard from Moores Road to Yarra Valley Soccer Club. We have made this decision as the scoreboard was kindly built by Karen and Chris Job, two life members and fantastic club people of MRSC, and now dedicating their time to Yarra Valley SC. We wish Yarra Valley all the best for the future and we hope that the scoreboard gets some good use up at YVSC’s home up in Warburton!
A reminder, Round 1 for our Men is next Friday, as the boys take on Brandon Park at home in what will be a hotly contested fixture! Kick offs will be 6:30pm for the Reserves and 8:30pm for the Seniors!
